About Quartz Movements
Crystals contain a regularly ordered, repeating pattern of atoms,
ions or molecules which exist in three dimensions. When an electrical
current is applied to a quartz crystal, the current is distorted which
creates a precise resonating frequency. Watchmakers employ the
subsequent frequency to measure time. In the case of a timepiece, a
battery supplies an electric current to a quartz crystal to accurately
time the movement. Quartz movements are the most accurate movements
available on the market today.
