The whopping fancy-shaped case of the Charing Cross is constructed from solid 316L surgical grade stainless steel and sports a curved topside framing a large custom curved Krysterna crystal. The contemporary appeal of Charing Cross is supported by the subtlety of the cross-shaped cutout in the main dial revealing a magnificent old-world harlequin pattern as the backdrop of this charmer. The main dial is diffused with a special treatment of color and the clever cross-like arrangement of the angular baton indices give the impression of the crosses on the Union Jack British flag; just another subliminal suggestion of the center of London.

The functionality of the Charing Cross is defined by the trusty quartz chronograph movement featuring a center-stop seconds hand, sixty-minute counter (sub-dial at nine oclock), small seconds (sub-dial at six oclock), a twenty-four hour indicator (sub-dial at three oclock), and a quick set date complication at the twelve oclock position. The sub-dials lend extra dimension and depth to the look of the Charing Cross as they are distinctly separate pieces that have been adjoined to the split level dial; and colossal uniquely shaped pushers add even more charisma to its charm.

The Charing Cross is mounted on a magnificent and behemoth twenty-four millimeter wide crocodile embossed genuine leather padded strap and is completed appropriately with a push-button dual-deployant clasp.

The watches I wanted were on sale at amazon and I contacted Dream to see if they could beat the price. They did so by a considerable amount, and allowed me to take advantage of their overnight shipping promotion. Good, honest, and non-automated or outsourced e-mail communication followed by prompt shipping. At 5:30pm, having received the UPS tracking info, I realized I had messed up my zip code -- I switched two numbers. I called Dream and they tracked down the truck taking the day's packages to the shipping center and applied a new label. Watches arrived by 10am the next day, new in box with all documentation, all stickers (i.e. protective ones on the back and face) in place, obviously factory-fresh. So not only was the price here considerably less than amazon, I received personalized customer service to resolve the zip code error I made -- something that Amazon would not be able to do because of its huge size and the way it encourages the use of standardized electronic forms to resolve all customer service issues. In other words, this is a reliable business and a good site -- as well as a business with heart. -- Michael
