The silver-tone dial has been forged out of fascinating genuine Gibeon meteorite material. Tritnite luminous markers make up all hour positions. A bi-level outer rim of the dial is marked with small, mysterious Arabic numerals at five-second intervals. Also benefiting from Tritnite luminous filling are this timepiece's hands. Resting immediately below 12:00 is a big date window. Incredible white mother-of-pearl sub-dials, are located at 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00. Gibeon Meteorite Material: From the Heavens to Your Timepiece
Gibeon meteorite material makes for a fascinating addition to any timepiece. What you may not be aware of is that its history stems back to 1838 when it was first discovered by Capt. J.E. Alexander. Hearing of native iron building up along the Great Fish River, the Captain made the decision to have samples analyzed.
After analyzing the samples it was realized that these large masses were not of Earth-born origin. It is believed that the Gibeon meteorite was actually quite large, but broke up into smaller pieces upon reaching Earth's atmosphere. Scientists theorize that the Gibeon meteorite fell to Earth in pre-historic times. Radiometric dating of Gibeon meteorite fragments have classified them as approximately four-billion years old, making them an astoundingly perfect addition to any timepiece!
